2012 CONTRACT NEGOTIATIONS
We are urging the membership of the IBT/CWA Association to get
involved. Ask your local leadership what you can do to help in our
mobilization efforts. We all need to put the pressure on US Airways
to negotiate a fair contract.
Remember:
We must stand together if we expect to change anything.
United we stand, Divided we beg!
SOLIDARITY!
Bargaining Report for July 14, 2011
Introductions were made. The main goal of this first session was to
lay out the process that we plan to use when passing bargaining
proposals, to agree on an agenda and to set up dates and locations
for future bargaining sessions.
The Company agreed not to attempt to implement a “gag order.”
The Association requested that the Company ask their managers to
refrain from implying in any way that the Company will not honor the
negotiated snap backs.
The Company stated that its goal in bargaining will be to maximize
effective use of its resources without being disadvantaged by the
other big 3 airlines; AA, DL and UA. They stated that US Airways
costs can't be the same as they were pre-bankruptcy. Because the
snap backs are contractual, Ron Harbenson assured us that the
Company will honor them, even though they are a big cost to US
Airways.
The Company and the Association agreed that the next bargaining
session will focus on the Letters of Agreement. They will address
which are still relevant and where they should be inserted into the
contract language.
Future bargaining sessions will take place in Tempe, AZ on September
13th and 14th and in DC at CWA Headquarters on November 8th, 9th and
10th.
The CWA will continue to work with their bargaining reps to prepare
for the next sessions with the Company by utilizing the bargaining
surveys we recently collected. The next strategy planning meeting
will be held in Charlotte NC on August 17th and 18th. The IBT will
be having similar preparatory meetings.
Bargaining report for September 13th and 14th, 2011.
The IBT- CWA Association bargaining team met with US Airways labor
relations for two days at US Airways headquarters in Tempe. In this
meeting they identified which of the Letters of Agreement that have
been signed since 2005 are still applicable and, if applicable, into
which Articles they should be inserted. It was decided that some
will remain as Letters of Agreement for now, but are subject to
negotiations.
