Welcome!

Over the next months, CWA will begin integrating the Piedmont employees into its ranks, determine the location of your Local, conduct Shop Steward training classes and negotiate your contract. There are many details yet to be worked out and many questions to answer. This page will contain the most current information available about the transition. We encourage you to visit it often for updates and information.

 
Union and Company Sign Interim Operating Agreement for Stewards
Last week at negotiations the Union and the Company reached an
“Interim Operating Agreement” to give our stewards rights to help the employees.

The most important parts of the agreement are:
*Stewards can attend disciplinary meetings and make a statement
*Stewards or a union rep can represent employee at Fair Treatment Board
*A steward can conduct union business during work hours but must first obtain permission of supervisor
*A steward will be allowed to post union material upon request to your station manager
*Stewards will be allowed to use flight privileges for union business

KNOW YOUR RIGHTS

• Never go alone into a meeting with Management. Once you have a signed contract, a Shop Steward will accompany you, but for the interim, you have the right to ask any coworker to act as a witness on your behalf.

SHOP STEWARDS

CWA encourages you to participate in the Piedmont Shop Steward program. As a steward, you would be expected to distribute membership cards to new employees, be knowledgeable about the contract, help in filing grievances, sit in on disciplinary meetings between employees and management and educate our members concerning their contractual rights and obligations. They will be allowed to accompany you into a hearing and take notes
They will also help you fill out a statement of occurrence to share with the Union
You are allowed to choose the steward as long as they are available
